Do you enjoy reading? Would you like to meet new people?
Would you like to take part in discussions about books/articles/short stories and improve your English skills?

Then join our BHT Book Club!

We will meet every other week during the semester to discuss books, articles, or short stories in a relaxed atmosphere. This club is not connected to any course. It's just an offer for book lovers to get together and discuss stories they have read.
You can also recommend reading material to the group and add your own topics. If you have any questions or would like to make a recommendation, feel free to contact Dr. Alexia Schemien (alexia.schemien(at)bht-berlin.de). You don't need to buy the reading material or any specific version of it. Some stories can be read for free online or you listen to them as an audio book or you buy other versions than the ones mentioned below.

We'll meet during lunch break in order to give people the opportunity to take part in the book club without inteferring with classes. Feel free to bring your own lunch so that we can eat while we are discussing what we have read. I'll bring along coffee and tea. If you're running late because your previous class was across campus, still come in. It's no problem to be late.

"Examination Day" by Henry Slesar (written in 1958). In this short science fiction story, a boy is required by the government to take an intelligence exam once he turns 12 years old. A very short short story full of irony and with an unexpected ending.
