On 16 November 2022, more than 120 researchers and individuals with an interest in research met at BHT's Beuth-Halle for the first BHT Research and Transfer Day. The objective of the event was to exchange knowledge and discuss ways to enhance the crisis resilience of society.

After the welcome addresses by BHT Vice President for Research and Transfer Prof. Dr. Silke Köhler and First Vice President of BHT Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Kesseler, Prof. Dr. Alexander Fekete from TH Cologne – University of Applied Sciences delivered a keynote speech to open the event. He conducts research into resilience and vulnerability assessments and used practical examples from crisis management to illustrate the challenges and opportunities that can accompany successful transfer.

Four professors presented outstanding BHT research projects in the fields of data science, robotics, microbiology and virtual reality. Fabian Wischmann presented the work of his successful start-up, HIIVE.

Prof. Dr. Yasmin Olteanu, the host, led a panel discussion on how universities can help strengthen social resilience, sustainable development and the efficient transfer of research results. Professors Dr.-Ing. Joachim Villwock and Dr. Elisabeth Grohmann from the BHT, as well as Dr. Grischa Beier from the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Fekete, each offered their professional perspective on these issues.

Afterwards, all attendees had the chance to learn about BHT's current research projects at the poster exhibition, where they could talk directly with the project leaders over finger food and drinks.
