Online Lecture on the Development of the Packaging Industry in Ukraine for BHT Master’s Students
As part of the international COIL activities within the PACK IT project, an online lecture entitled “Development of the Packaging Industry in Ukraine” was delivered for Master’s students of Faculty V at Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT), enrolled in the degree programme Verpackungstechnik und Management (M.Eng.).

As part of the educational programme within the PACK IT project, Ukrainian and German students jointly visited several production facilities of Schwarz Produktion associated with Lidl production systems. A Ukrainian PhD Student’s Experience
From April to June 2026, Iryna Parkhomets, a third-year PhD student in Food Technologies at the National University of Food Technologies, is undertaking an international research internship at Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT). During an intensive week, 17 students from Berlin and Ukraine deepened their knowledge of fibre-based packaging materials at the Paper Centre in Gernsbach. The week offered an exciting mix of English-language lectures, digital process simulations and independent laboratory exercises on paper production. Ukrainian PhD Students' Experiences
For two months the two PhD students Mariia Zavodiana and Anna Savelova completed an international internship at the Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT) as part of the DAAD PACK IT academic mobility programme. Excursions
Within the framework of the DAAD-funded PACK IT mobility program, students from Ukraine could participate in a series of visits to German industrial enterprises together with students from the Department of Packaging and Management at Berlin University of Applied Sciences (BHT). The program brings together students from Ukraine and Germany and provides a shared learning context in which packaging is explored across different stages of development, production, and automation.
Industrial Excursion to Storck: From Family Tradition to Global Confectionery Leader
Storck is a global leader in the confectionery market with over 100 years of history. It is famous for iconic brands including Mamba, Merci, Toffifee, Nimm2, Werther’s Original, Knoppers, and Ice Fresh. As part as the same framework, the students also visited ThyssenKrupp Rasselstein, gaining firsthand insight into large-scale industrial metal production and its significance in modern packaging. The visit aimed to deepen students’ understanding of metal packaging systems, illustrating how industrial efficiency, sustainability and technological expertise converge in a contemporary production environment. → read more
