Invitation to the next doctoral colloquium of the winter semester. Our next speaker will be:
Ranjit Santhanaraman (SIRo-Lab): "Design and Development of a Visuo-Haptic Interface for Humanoid Robot Teleoperation"
3.12.2024
12:15 – 13:15
Raum A51 (Haus Beuth)
Teleoperation of humanoid robots involves remotely controlling robots to perform tasks by replicating human actions and intentions. This field focuses on designing interfaces that seamlessly translate operator movements into robotic actions while maintaining real-time responsiveness and precision. A key goal is to create intuitive systems that enable operators to control robots efficiently, ensuring smooth interaction and task execution. Challenges include developing user-friendly interfaces, minimizing latency, and achieving natural movement replication.
About:
Ranjit Santhanaraman, PhD student in the research team of Prof. Dr.-Ing Hannes Höppner (SIRo-Lab) and the Forschungsverbund “Humanoide Robotik und Mensch-Technik-Interaktion" (HARMONIK).
As a part of the SIRo-Lab, he is developing a teleoperation interface for the humanoid robot TIAGo Pro for interaction with humans and environment since September 2024. He completed his master's in Robotics at RWTH Aachen.
