Ingeborg Beckers is an experimental physicist and represents the field of optics, imaging and image processing as a professor of medical physics at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences since 2005.
She received her PhD in semiconductor physics from Philipps University Marburg and worked at the Helmholtz Center for Materials and Energy in the field of correlation of optical and electrical properties of materials for solar cell research.

At the Berlin University of Applied Sciences, she heads the Laboratory for Optics and Laser Technology. Here she conducted research projects on microscopy with extended depth of field (EDF-Mic, Holo-Mic), on optical coherence tomography (QM-ROCT, BeCRF), and repairable medical devices for use in low-resource environments (remo2hbo), where image reconstruction and automated analysis and recognition of characteristic image features are central aspects of her research.

Inge is particularly interested in projects where AI is applied for sustainability. Her current research project, which Inge is conducting together with Frank Haußer, is dedicated to the development of an AI-based multisensor system for insect classification (KInsekt).
