Florian Martin has been a doctoral researcher in the IMPACT Research Consortium since June 2024 under the supervision of Prof. Elisabeth Grohmann. He is an experienced biochemist with a background in scientific and technical support as well as research and development. His expertise includes the design, execution, and analysis of experiments aimed at optimizing and further developing antibody-based assays. His technical skills encompass protein isolation, chromatographic protein purification, protein engineering, DNA cloning, and a broad range of protein biochemical methods.
He began his professional career in 2011 as a Chemical Technical Assistant at Atotech Deutschland GmbH. In 2014, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg, where his research focused on identifying potential interaction partners of the INAD protein. He completed his Master of Science in Biochemistry with distinction at the same university in 2018. His master's thesis, carried out at the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology (Fraunhofer IGB) in Würzburg, focused on the production and purification of chimeric proteins.
In 2017, Florian Martin completed a research internship at the Institute of Molecular Biosciences at the University of Graz, Austria, where he investigated the biosynthesis of the pyrrolobenzodiazepine tilivalline in Klebsiella oxytoca. This work resulted in a co-authored publication in Angewandte Chemie.
Between 2020 and 2024, he worked in scientific support, gaining extensive experience in laboratory management and the supervision of interns and university students.
