Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Jabs

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Jabs is Professor of Analytical Biochemistry at the Berliner Hochschule für Technik. He earned his doctorate in Chemistry from Justus Liebig University Giessen in 1998 with a dissertation on the high-resolution spectroscopy of unstable molecules. He subsequently completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Texas A&M University, USA, where he worked under the supervision of Prof. Dr. John W. Bevan on the high-resolution spectroscopic analysis of non-covalently bound molecular complexes.

Before joining the Berliner Hochschule für Technik, Prof. Jabs worked as a Senior Scientist at Bruker Daltonik GmbH in Bremen, Germany, from 2007 to 2016. His work focused on the development of liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS) methods and applications for quantitative proteomics and biopharmaceutical analysis.

Prior to this position, he was employed at Bruker Daltonik GmbH from 2000 to 2007 as a Scientific Software Project Manager and Software Developer. In this role, he led the development of software solutions, including algorithms for protein identification and quantification.

At the Berliner Hochschule für Technik, Prof. Jabs serves as the spokesperson for the Biotechnology degree program. Since April 2024, he has also been a member of the Department Council and Vice Dean of the Department of Life Sciences and Technology. In teaching, he is particularly committed to holistic concepts in undergraduate education and to the internationalization of the biotechnology curriculum.

Through cooperative doctoral programs with Freie Universität Berlin and collaborative research projects with industrial partners, Prof. Jabs supervises numerous doctoral, master's, and bachelor's students in the fields of analytical biochemistry and biotechnology.
