Prof. Dr. habil. Stephan Hinderlich has been Professor of Biochemistry in the Department of Life Sciences and Technology at the Berliner Hochschule für Technik since 2007. He studied Biochemistry at Freie Universität Berlin, graduating in 1995. He subsequently completed his doctoral research at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Freie Universität Berlin, where he earned his Dr. rer. nat. degree in 1998.

From 1998 to 2007, Prof. Hinderlich worked as a postdoctoral researcher and research group leader at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, where he also completed his habilitation.

His research focuses on glycobiotechnology, particularly the production, modification, and characterization of therapeutic glycoproteins. In this field, he has successfully acquired and led externally funded research projects with a total funding volume of approximately €2.5 million. In addition, Prof. Hinderlich has supervised or is currently supervising six cooperative doctoral projects and has authored around 80 scientific publications.
