Prof. Dr. -Ing. habil. Peter Götz
Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Peter Götz is Professor Emeritus of Bioprocess Engineering at the Berliner Hochschule für Technik.
He began his academic career after graduating with a Diplom-Ingenieur degree in Process Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin (TU Berlin) in 1984. Following a one-year DAAD fellowship at the Department of Biochemical Engineering at Rice University in Houston, USA, he returned to TU Berlin, where he worked as a research associate at the Institute of Fermentation and Brewing from 1985 to 1990. He received his doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) in 1991. In 1999, Prof. Götz completed his habilitation in Bioprocess Engineering, obtaining the qualification to teach at the professorial level, and was appointed Privatdozent at TU Berlin.
Between 1999 and 2002, he served as a lecturer at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen–Nuremberg (FAU). In 2003, he was appointed Visiting Professor at Dongseo University in Busan, South Korea. From 2003 to 2007, he was Guest Professor of Bioprocess Engineering at TU Berlin, followed by a position as a scientist at the Institute of Bioprocess Engineering at the University of Stuttgart from 2007 to 2009, while also teaching at Biberach University of Applied Sciences. Since 2009, he has been an Adjunct Professor (außerplanmäßiger Professor) of Systems Biotechnology at TU Berlin and Professor of Bioprocess Engineering at the Berliner Hochschule für Technik.
From 1998 to 2014, Prof. Götz was also Managing Director of Dr. Götz Verfahrenstechnik Biotechnik Umwelttechnik in Luckenwalde, a company specializing in contract research and manufacturing of biotechnological products.
Prof. Götz is an active member of numerous scientific organizations and professional societies, including DECHEMA, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (Deutscher Hochschulverband), and the Biotechnology Network Berlin-Brandenburg, where he serves as Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board.
Over the past five years, he has led and participated in externally funded research projects with a combined funding volume exceeding €9 million. Within these projects, he has also supervised doctoral research conducted at the Berliner Hochschule für Technik.
Prof. Götz has received several prestigious awards for his scientific achievements, including the Henry Ford European Conservation Award (1999) and the Professor Adalbert Seifritz Award of the Technology Transfer Association (Verein Technologie-Transfer Handwerk e.V.) in 1998.
